French Voice Actor for Video Games

A voice actor with a genuine passion for the medium, I bring your video game characters to life with authenticity and precision. I have been playing for thirty years, across a wide variety of genres (RTS, RPG, FPS, open world, action-adventure, point & click) and I understand how much storytelling, emotion and immersion matter.

French and English dubbing, screams and efforts, creatures, callouts: my acting background and my professional studio let me deliver memorable performances, whether you are an independent studio or working with the largest production budget.

Several Roles in the Same Game

On Guts & Blackpowder, I voiced five distinct classes within the same faction: infantry, sapper, surgeon, general and priest. Each with its own timbre and temperament, while staying coherent as a whole. On Infraction, three English-speaking characters in the same game.

By making precise choices — age, social background, build, personality — one voice can cover several roles in the same game.

Screams, Efforts and Extreme Voices

Effort sessions are the most demanding part of a game recording: pain, falls, deaths, attacks, heavy breathing, creature growls. I have learned to produce these sounds without straining the vocal apparatus, through proper vocal warm-up and short breaks between sessions when the effort is intense.

The complete Estill Voice Training course gave me detailed knowledge of the vocal apparatus that I put to use constantly.

Gameplay excerpt, callouts heard in game

Behind the scenes of the recording

Fuze Studios entrusted me with the French localisation of the French army in Guts & Blackpowder, a co-op game set during the Napoleonic Wars. The brief covered two parts: translating the English script and performing the callouts as they would sound in combat. The recording included five character classes, along with a great many screams of death, burning, injury and more.

A callout is not a film line. It has to be understood in a split second, through the noise, by a player whose attention is elsewhere. That means balancing historical accuracy against clarity, and working on the attack of every single line.

I posted an excerpt of the recording session on YouTube. The algorithm recommended it to the game's players, who discovered who was behind their callouts. The videos around this work now total more than 500,000 views, and conversations with the community continue on the game's Discord.

Very professional, kind, and straightforward. Also, an amazing voice actor. Let your throat rest, you did a wonderful job!

Jean-François was an ideal actor for my game. Not a single retake was needed across more than 900 words of dialogue, delivered on a very good schedule and in perfect technical condition.

What Video Games Mean to Me

Video games matter to me as much as film or literature. The relationship they build with the player is intimate and involving, and it was that immersive power that led me to devote my master's thesis to them. Wielding the lightsaber in Dark Forces II, discovering Omikron as a slider in The Nomad Soul, spending my twentieth birthday around Soul Calibur 2: those memories are why put my whole heart in every line I record for a game.

Lending my voice to a game is a way of giving back to a medium that has given me so much.
