Voice-Over for Commercials: TV, Radio, Cinema and Online

A French voice actor, I have been recording commercials since 2020 for broadcast on television, on radio, in cinemas and online, for brands running campaigns in France, Canada and internationally. Formats of 6, 15, 20 and 30 seconds, multiple versions, synchronised dubbing, French localisation of foreign campaigns. An actor since 2014, I work from my acoustically treated studio in Agen, with delivery within 48 to 72 hours.

A commercial gives you no second chance: the message has to land the first time, within the time allowed, in the exact tone the brand has chosen. That is what my acting background is for — finding the right intention.

Featured Projects

Campaigns broadcast on TV, radio and online

Tintin, l'aventure immersiveA comic-book tone, enthusiastic and adventurous. Several explorations before we found exactly the right read. 15 and 6-second versions, TV, radio and web. A 13-week campaign in Montréal, then an international tour of the exhibition across several countries.

Whimzees

French localisation of seven spots for social media. A different dog and a different personality in each one, staying faithful to the original British tone. All seven approved on first delivery.

Euronews
Spot for the European news channel. An authoritative, serious read, recorded in a session directed live by the client.

TV5 Unis

Channel promo, broadcast during an awards ceremony. Announcer register requested by the broadcaster.

Timed to the Second

Six seconds, fifteen, thirty: the format sets the tempo and forgives nothing. Delivering a six-second read that still breathes, where the brand name is not swallowed, is as much a job for an actor as for a stopwatch.

When a campaign calls for ten or so variations, each one has to hit its duration without the energy dropping from one version to the next. On a recent campaign: fourteen versions — five at fifteen seconds and nine at six — all delivered the same day.

Serving a Brand's Tone

A brand rarely turns up empty-handed: there is a style guide, a reference, sometimes a foreign version to follow to the letter.

My role depends on what the project calls for: sometimes I blend into the existing tone, sometimes I offer my own colours with several different reads. Either way, I make proposals and we adjust and decide together.

Saying a Lot in Very Little

publicite-noir.png

Advertising is the most constrained exercise in voice-over, and that is exactly what makes it compelling. The message matters, of course, but so does the state you are in at the moment you speak. We want to feel what the person is living through as they say the words. Everything rests on an intention, a breath, a stress placed in the right spot. In thirty seconds you tell a story; in six, you leave a mark.

In both cases you have to be believable from the very first word. That comes from making sure the intention is truly present in you before you dive in, and that the energy is high enough to catch attention naturally.
